Drink and Dine Like Local: Homemade Sausage Rolls

Homemade sausage rolls are a family favourite at Footy Finals time. The secret is in the hidden veggies.

For the sausage rolls you will need:

400g sausage mince 
300g chicken mince 
1 onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed 
1 medium carrot grated
1 medium zucchini grated 
1 cup (65g) fresh breadcrumbs
3 tablespoons chopped parsley
2 eggs 
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Salt & freshly ground pepper
4 sheets frozen puff pastry, semi thawed 
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Directions:

1. Pre-Heat Oven to 200 Degrees C and line two baking trays with baking paper

2. Combine all ingredients except for 1 egg, the frozen puff pastry and the sesame seeds

3. Cut pastry in half and place mixture down the centre of the pastry

4. Beat the other egg slightly in a bowl and brush edges with this mixture

5. Roll pastry and brush the top with the egg mixture and then sprinkle with sesame seeds

6. Bake for 20 mins then turn the heat down to 180 Degrees C to cook for another 10 minutes or until Golden Brown

7. Enjoy
